Shortwave: The Email App That Will Change Your Life

So, Matt is like trying to be funny, you know? I wish I could get a screenshot of it, but it was like way less than that! I think it was 25k at one point, but now thanks to the Shortwave app, I'm inbox zero every 7 days! It's seriously a life-saver. You can categorize your emails and wipe them all at once if you don't have time to read them. Just tap Delete, and all those emails in that category inbox will be gone in a snap!

People were responding to his Tweet with images of their Gmail or Mail app on iOS showing how many unread emails they had. God, I don’t know how many people replied, but he has 24.4k views! Pretty wild, huh?

Check those responses; one of them was insanely over 700k unread emails! Wow!

I lost count of unread emails when I had so many emails coming last year. And they were not well-organized. It stressed me out! Sometimes, I dread going to emails and seeing hundreds being unread. Anyway, some of those emails were junk. It took me countless months to thoroughly clean up my inbox, report spam emails, and unsubscribe from numerous mailing lists. Of course, junk emails are still there, but they get cleaned out automatically after 30 days, so no worries!

I also organize those emails using Gmail’s feature called Inbox Categories, which has tabs for Primary, Social, Update, Promotion, and Forum. But Shortwave has even more categories, like Newsletter, Purchases, and Finance, which is nice!

Since discovering Shortwave, I have diligently monitored my emails to ensure they are correctly sorted and removed any unnecessary emails. With the help of Shortwave, this task has become effortless. I'm thrilled to have found such an excellent email app that has made my life easier.

Using the Shortwave app, I follow a daily routine of checking my emails in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Typically, I skim through around 30 to 40 emails during each morning and evening session. Occasionally, I check them in between breaks throughout the day. However, I don't read every email in its entirety. Instead, I scan through them until I find something piques my interest. If something grabs my attention, I'll read the entire message. Additionally, if any links are included, I only click on them if they appear genuinely interesting. I sometimes refer to such links as clickbait!

Most promotion emails are usually deleted at once in the morning, afternoon (if I have time), and evening!

So, Shortwave is now my go-to email app on all my devices. It's just so easy to clean up and delete emails with it.

Shortwave even has a dedicated web app, or you could call it a PWA app. PWA is Progressive Web Application. I will gladly write an entry about PWAs one day! You can install it on the desktop by going to Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, and then it will ask you if you want to pin it to the taskbar! It is also available on mobile apps, iOS or Android. You should try it one day! It has a premium plan, but I use a free version that limits emails to 90 days.

Oh, one more thing, Shortwave has an AI feature to summarize the email if you don't have time to read the whole email. I do use it some time, and it is nice.

Oh, speaking of AI (if you don’t know what AI is, Artificial Intelligence), I should write ✍ a long-form post on that topic; it is indeed a hot topic!!!

Gotta go! Have a great day!
